Terms of Use
Purpose
Welcome to Altersive, an independent social platform dedicated to communication, profile creation, communities and roleplay (RP). These terms govern access to Altersive and use of its features. When creating an account, you must read these terms and explicitly accept them. The Community Rules, Moderation and Reporting Policy and Faceclaim Rules supplement these terms. The Privacy Policy separately explains the processing of personal information.
Access requirements
Use of Altersive is restricted to people aged at least 16. You must provide the information needed to create the account, protect your credentials and not allow another person to use your account in a way that would compromise its security. You are responsible for activities carried out through your account, subject in particular to situations involving unauthorized access.
Accounts and multiple profiles
Altersive allows multiple profiles to be managed from a single main account. Each profile may have its own pseudonym, @handle, content and interactions, depending on available features. Creating multiple profiles does not give you the right to circumvent: * A block. * A suspension or restriction. * The community rules. * A moderation decision. A serious sanction may affect the entire account and all associated profiles. Fictional profiles and RP characters must remain clearly distinct from impersonation of a real person.
Roleplay and fiction
Altersive welcomes roleplay activities, including fictional characters, scenarios and narrative interactions. The fictional nature of a story does not justify prohibited conduct targeting real people. Conflicts between characters must remain within RP. Real threats, intimidation, harassment and invasions of privacy are prohibited. Users must respect the boundaries expressed by other participants and the rules applicable to published content.
Prohibited content
The following are prohibited, among other things: * Content involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of minors. * Sexual solicitation of minors. * Threats, intimidation and harassment. * Hate speech targeting protected persons or groups. * Unauthorized disclosure of personal information. * Non-consensual sexual content. * Explicit pornographic images and videos. * Scams, spam and attempted fraud. * Impersonation and deceptive fake accounts. * Visual content generated by artificial intelligence, in accordance with the Community Rules. * Faceclaims prohibited by the official rules. * Illegal content or content infringing others' rights. These rules also apply to private conversations, groups and RP.
Intellectual property
You retain the rights you hold in the texts, photos, illustrations and other creations you publish. You must have the rights or permissions needed to use content belonging to third parties. By publishing content, you grant Altersive's operator a non-exclusive authorization, limited to what is necessary to host, technically reproduce, adapt to the service's format, transmit and display that content according to your visibility settings. This authorization does not transfer ownership of your creations to Altersive. It ends when the content is deleted, subject to temporary technical copies, content already shared or applicable legal obligations. This clause does not give Altersive a general authorization to sell your creations or use them to train artificial intelligence models.
Faceclaims
Use of a real person's appearance as a faceclaim is subject to the Faceclaim Rules. Faceclaims representing people who are minors, deceased, have explicitly refused this use or appear on the official prohibited list are prohibited, among others. A photo's public availability does not guarantee the right to reuse it. A person concerned can request a review for removal of their image.
Reports and moderation
Users can report conduct and content that appear to violate the rules. Depending on the seriousness of the facts and the tools actually available, Altersive may remove content, suspend accounts or take other measures consistent with its rules. Decisions may take into account context, repeated conduct, available information and risks to other users. No sanction is automatically guaranteed following a report. Service availability
Altersive is an independent project that may evolve, particularly during its beta phase. Some features may be changed, temporarily unavailable or removed for technical, security or service development reasons. Altersive does not guarantee continuous availability or a complete absence of errors. Mandatory legal provisions and users' rights remain applicable.
Account deactivation and deletion
You can use the available features to deactivate your account or request its deletion. Deactivation does not necessarily mean erasure of data. Deletion may result in loss of access to profiles, posts, conversations and other associated content, according to the mechanisms described in the Privacy Policy. Some data may temporarily remain for technical or legal reasons.
Changes to these terms
Altersive may change these terms to reflect changes to the platform and applicable obligations. Significant changes will be communicated appropriately. New acceptance may be requested when necessary.
Responsibilities and applicable rights
Each user must comply with applicable laws, others' rights and these terms. Altersive may take reasonable steps to protect its service and users, without claiming to prevent all abusive conduct. Nothing in these terms limits rights that a user cannot legally waive. Altersive is a project operated by an individual from Québec, Canada, with no separate incorporated company. Contact: scribalter@hotmail.com. The beta is primarily intended for European and Canadian users, with no geographical restriction on registration. These terms are governed by the law applicable in Québec and applicable Canadian federal laws, subject to mandatory provisions and the rights available to users in their country of residence. This clause does not deprive users of remedies or protections they cannot legally waive.
