ALTERSIVE · UNDERSTAND & EXPLORE
Explore Altersive
Altersive brings character writing and community conversations into one social network. Its spaces serve different purposes, while keeping fictional interaction distinct from the real person writing it.
One account, different voices
An account lets you return to your RP profiles and choose which one you use. Display names, handles, bios and visuals help writing partners recognize a character. Check your active profile before posting or replying.
New accounts and new profile creation are currently closed. Existing beta testers can continue using the profiles they already have.
Share a scene or a thought
Posts can include text and media. Use them to introduce a situation, share a creation or develop a fictional world through comments. A Rant is a shorter text format, limited to 200 words, for a spontaneous thought or reaction that still respects others.
Following a profile helps you find its posts. Visibility depends on profile settings and relationships. A profile available inside the app is not automatically a public web page.
Stories for passing moments
A photo or video story adds a visual moment to a character, with optional text. It stays active for 24 hours. Authors can return to their archives and create highlights, subject to the app’s access controls.
Views and likes give authors feedback. Lists of viewers and profiles who liked a story are available only to the profile that owns it.
Choose where to continue a conversation
Messaging lets two profiles organize a scene or continue a roleplay. Group conversations bring several participants together. Message requests, permissions and blocks still apply.
Private conversations are not public. The current version does not provide end-to-end encryption, so avoid sharing unnecessary sensitive information.
ASK, Discover and Echoes
ASK lets you send questions to a profile and answer questions you receive. Anonymous questions hide the sender from the recipient, not necessarily from the platform’s systems. Rules against harassment still apply.
Discover helps you meet profiles inside the app. Echoes brings together editorial items and announcements, including news, RP searches, creations and events. Submissions follow the available review tools; submitting an item does not guarantee publication.
A beta to explore thoughtfully
The beta helps test real workflows and identify problems. A useful report describes what you tried, what you expected and what happened, without sharing a password or a complete private conversation.
